Aaron began his professional music career with the group Youngstir. The group consisted of Randle Currie (currently with Brad Paisley), Aaron Young (former guitarist for Barrage), Tyler Kushneryk (The Cleavers), Mike Langlois, and Rob Michayliuk. At that time, all the boys were under 14 years of age and spent the entire summer playing various outdoor music festivals across Western Canada.

Since 1992, Aaron has performed with his father, Brian Sklar, first with the Prairie Fire Band, and most recently with the Tex Pistols. In addition to playing drums, AAron is a strong lead vocalist, songwriter, and a developing fiddler and acoustic guitar player. His main musical interest lies in the Lefty Frizzel/George Jones/Buck Owens era, with Dwight Yoakam and George Strait topping his list of current musical influences. Aaron wrote and performed two songs on the Tex Pistols’ Not Suitable for Airplay. He also wrote and performed an original on "AAIIEE!!" and covered Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi. His original song, Crazy World, has become somewhat of a cult classic. The song, about a typical dysfunctional family, strikes a familiar note with almost anyone who grew up in a busy home.

Aaron is a graduate of the University of Regina, with degrees in both education and science, but his first love is traditional country music. He has developed an impressive following at Tex Pistols’ shows across North America and in Europe. Look for some new recordings in 2006, when he unveils his first solo project, a collection of original material.
